FDA approves the first vaccine to prevent meningococcal disease in infants and toddlers

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved the use of Menactra in children as young as 9 months for prevention of invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y and W-135. Menactra already is approved for use in people ages 2 through 55 years.

Satur Farms, LLC Recalls Satur Farms Cilantro Because of Possible Health Risk

Satur Farms of Cutchogue, NY is recalling 138 pounds of Satur Farms Cilantro, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
