Reichel Foods, Inc. of Rochester, Minnesota is voluntarily recalling a limited amount of Dippin’ Stix Sliced Apples & Caramel with Peanuts and Armour Active Packs Cheese Pizza Lunch Kits because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Whole Foods Market in the state of Florida only has initiated a voluntary recall of certain fresh food items sold in prepared foods departments, as well as one item sold in seafood departments of their 17 Florida stores. The items are being recalled as they could have been made using raw yellow onions processed by Gills Onions, LLC, which initiated a recall on their product due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

December 14, 2011 – Cargill Animal Nutrition today announced a voluntary recall of select regional poultry, calf, and whole and cracked corn products due to aflatoxin levels that were detected above the acceptable limit. The affected animal feed products were manufactured at Cargill’s Lecompte, Louisiana, facility between Sept. 6, 2011, and Dec. 1, 2011.
